The theme for the next edition of the Spinozalens prize has been announced: future-proof solidarity. From 9th September 2024 onwards, the new jury, chaired by Prof. Dr. Huub Dijstelbloem (UvA), will meet to decide upon a laureate who best fits this theme. The winner of the Spinozalens prize 2025 will be announced in late November 2024.
In today’s society, with different population groups often living in separate bubbles, solidarity is under considerable pressure. What’s more, this pressure on interconnectedness is not only national. Cross-border developments such as climate change, migration and rapidly-developing digital technology are putting our interrelations to the test. What new questions around solidarity do these developments raise? And what new forms of solidarity can we already discern in them? These are the questions the jury of the Spinozalens prize will consider. The members of the jury will search for a thinker who can formulate inspiring answers. The winner of the Spinoza Prize 2025 will be announced around 24th November 2024, the anniversary of Spinoza’s birth. A year later, the mayor of The Hague will present the prize to the philosopher at a public gathering. Leading up to the prize ceremony, the International Spinoza Prize Foundation will organise an educational program for young people around the laureate’s ideas.
